Crayons and Code is committed to making Frontend Foundations accessible to as many people as possible. This statement applies to the Frontend Foundations site at this domain, published by Crayons and Code.
Conformance target
We aim for conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. The site is a static reference: principles, standards, patterns, and checklists — not a logged-in application.
Our accessibility section and accessibility standard describe what we expect from frontend work in general. This statement is about the accessibility of this website itself.
What we have done
- Semantic HTML structure with landmarks, headings, and real links and buttons
- Skip link to main content on every page
- Visible keyboard focus styles and logical tab order on primary navigation
- Text alternatives for decorative images where needed; meaningful labels on controls
- Colour contrast chosen for dark-theme text, links, and focus indicators
-
Support for reduced motion via
prefers-reduced-motion - Page language set to
en-GB -
Semantic breadcrumb navigation with
nav, an ordered list, andaria-current="page"on the current item -
Mobile navigation with a
button,aria-expanded,aria-controls, keyboard focus moved into the panel when opened, and Escape to close — notdetails/summaryfor the main menu - Form and validation guidance aligned with the GOV.UK Design System — error summaries, field messages, hints, and recovery flows
-
FAQ sections using native
details/summarywhere appropriate
Known limitations
We are aware of areas that may not yet meet our target everywhere:
- Long code samples may be difficult to navigate by screen reader; we highlight syntax for sighted users and are improving sample structure over time
- Some third-party or embedded content linked from the site is outside our control and may not meet the same standard
- PDF or other downloadable formats are not offered on this site today; if we add them, we will state their accessibility status here
We review accessibility as part of content and design changes, including manual keyboard and screen reader checks on critical paths.
Compatibility
The site is intended to work with current versions of major browsers and assistive technologies, including screen readers and voice control, on desktop and mobile.
Feedback and contact
If you find a barrier on this site, or need information in a different format, please tell us:
- via https://crayonsandco.de (contact details on the Crayons and Code site)
- include the page URL and a short description of the problem
We will acknowledge your message and aim to respond within five working days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may escalate to the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) or another relevant body in your country.
Enforcement procedure (UK)
Under the Equality Act 2010, providers of services to the public must make reasonable adjustments and not discriminate on the basis of disability. If you are in the UK and believe we have not met that duty, you may contact the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC).
